Star GB appoints new Midlands sales manager

Derbyshire-based sliding headstock lathe supplier Star Micronics GB Ltd has appointed James Hunter as its area sales manager covering the Midlands region.

Hunter’s role will encourage the continued growth of Star GB by identifying new opportunities that could benefit from sliding head lathe technology, whilst supporting its existing users with new machine tool investments and providing technical insight on complex applications.

With over 25 years of production engineering experience under his belt and having supported a range of OEM and subcontract manufacturing businesses, Hunter brings to the role a thorough understanding of the challenges faced by the UK manufacturing sector and the productivity benefits that can be achieved from supplying high quality engineering solutions.

Hunter’s most recent employment credentials include the sales and technical support of high-end machine tools and cutting tools for established UK suppliers.

As sliding head production is rapidly becoming a staple of UK manufacturing, Hunter’s extensive machine tool experience and the relationships developed throughout his career make him well-placed to ensure that all manufacturers in his region can take advantage of the latest innovations from Star – including the new SL Series of sliding head lathes that recently made its UK debut.
