WORK HOLDING

MAIN COLLETS

Star GB stock a wide variety of main collets from F15/580 type through to F48/81 type. Collets for the main spindle are usually grooved but serrated, tungsten gritted or carbide lined collets are available on request. Main collets to suit profiled bar are also available on request.

SUPERGRIP MAIN COLLETS

Supergrip collets offer superior holding force at the same clamping pressure due to the closely pitched longitudinal and transverse grooves. Supergrip main collets are available on request.

LONGSTAR MAIN COLLETS

LONGSTAR collets offer up to 40% more clamping force than traditional F-Type (dead length) collets. They suit existing F-Type collet sleeves and are available in F25/64, F36/740 and F48/81 sizes. LONGSTAR collets are available on request.

Sub Collets

Star GB stock a wide variety of smooth bore sub-collets (pick-off collets). F-Type sub-collets have a limited gripping range and are "sized" to suit the clamping diameter. Collets with wave slots (s-slots), carbide lining, stepped diameters or tapered bores are available on request.

Extended Nose Sub Collets

Collets with extended noses allow the sub-spindle to clamp small diameter thin parts especially when using right-handed parting off tools. They are also useful when supporting long components when clearance is limited by tool holder configuration. Up to 25mm extension is possible.

Emergency Collets

Star GB stock all sizes of emergency collets to suit our range of sliding head lathes. These collets are generally supplied with 10mm nose extension and a 3mm pilot bore as standard. Collets are supplied with a hardened body and soft nose for finishing as required. Removable pins are included

GUIDE BUSHES

Star GB stock all standard sizes of guide bushes to suit our range of sliding head lathes. Guide bushes for profiled bar are available on request. Guide bushes with extended carbide up to 50mm are also available. Guide bushes with rear guides for small diameter bars are also available on request.

SHT CLAMP SLEEVES

SHT clamping sleeves suit FMB bar feeds with capacity sets of 25mm or greater. The clamping sleeve is secured to the main pusher via three screws. In some cases using a clamping sleeve that suits a smaller main pusher (D36 > D32) is beneficial as this allows the main pusher to get closer the collet gripping diameter thus reducing the remnant length.

SHK CLAMP SLEEVES

SHK clamping sleeves suit FMB bar feeds with capacity sets of less than 25mm. The clamping sleeve (sometimes referred to as barfeed collet or feed finger) is secured to the main pusher via a removable pin.

INTERNAL CLAMP SLEEVES

Internal clamping sleeves suit tube applications where the outside diameter of the material is close to either the capacity set diameter or main spindle diameter. The adjacent picture shows a “vulcanised” SHK type internal clamping sleeve.

LONG LIFE CLAMP SLEEVES

LONG LIFE clamping sleeves have a thin wall thickness (< 0.5mm) allowing material sizes that are close to the capacity set diameters (main pusher diameter) or machine spindle diameter to still be adequately gripped.

REINFORCED LONG LIFE CLAMPING SLEEVES

Reinforced LONG LIFE clamping sleeves suit profiled bar applications. The slot design reduces the tendency of the clamping sleeve to open under high rpm increasing the service life of clamping sleeve.
